Practical recommendations

The financial security of a dairy farm depends on the stability of producing process of maximum quality products with minimal costs. Fulfillment of qualitative and quantitative indicators is the determining criteria for maintaining efficiency in dairy farms. These target results include management, feed conversion, feed composition, quality product analysis, etc.

The magazine «Effective breeding» №5 includes the article "The transit period - six rules of success". The head of the MISMA livestock project Vladislav Reshetnyak is a co-author of this article. The material is based on the practical experience of the CIS countries enterprises in maintaining productivity, reducing ketoses to "zero" and achieving a high percentage of insemination in newly calved cows.

Ensuring the safety of cows while maintaining enterprise income requires the participation of all farm specialists. In total, measures to achieve this goal include the production cycle regime, increasing the percentage of pregnant cowbane in milking, regular monitoring of the nutritional value of feed, and a well-developed feeding program as the most significant. It is very important to provide cows with a special diet, that contains all the necessary components to eliminate possible animal health problems, expand feed intake, increase the peak of lactation and successful insemination. Experts of the MISMA recommend to use feed additives: protected choline MenoCo and protected niacin Menonic 50 before calving in order to protect liver. These components prevent the accumulation of fat in liver and activate liver enzymes. After calving, to prevent ketosis, it is necessary to enrich the diet with the special product Misma Energy, as the first source of quick energy for calving cows and as a combined product of auxiliary mineral substances.

The authors of the article identified 6 key rules of herd management during the transit period. The material describes in details the successive stages of ensuring the safety of cows and milk productivity during a period that affects both the life expectancy of the animal and the level of income of the enterprise. It is possible to maintain good health of cows with proper planning and implementation of the described rules. The practical tools presented in the article will bring tangible results for the dairy enterprise and will cover the resources expended.
